30-SECOND GUIDE
PDF in.
Clean list out.
1. Choose the PDF
Use a searchable PDF. If you can select normal text in your PDF viewer, it is usually suitable.
2. Check the results
CiteSweep lists the citation, detected type, source page and nearby context when available.
3. Copy or export
Copy the semicolon-separated list, one citation per line, CSV, or TXT.
Example
Input text:
Smith v. Jones, 412 F.3d 123. See also Doe v. City, 2025 WL 1234567. Brown v. Board, 347 U.S. 483.
Output:
412 F.3d 123; 2025 WL 1234567; 347 U.S. 483
Scanned PDFs
If the document is only page images, CiteSweep cannot see the words yet. Run OCR in your normal PDF software first, or paste OCR text into the text box on the home page.
Always verify
Citation formats are messy. Treat the extraction as a time-saving first pass, not as a legal conclusion or authority check.
